Beyond Borders is a long-term ESC project hosted by FITT in Romania that brings together international and national volunteers to support youth work and community initiatives.
You’ll work in a vibrant team, contribute to events and local actions, and grow personally and professionally through hands-on experience in the youth NGO field.
Who is the project for?
The project is designed for young people aged 18–30 from an ESC-eligible country, who are fluent in English and motivated to develop new skills while working with Romanian youth (14-35 years old) and ready to relocate to Romania for up to one year.
How will it work?
You’ll support FITT’s ongoing activities through workshops, events, and campaigns, by choosing your main involvement area:
1) Facilitation
- Design and deliver non-formal educational activities;
- Lead interactive workshops and discussions;
- Adapt activities based on feedback and engagement.
Topics may include personal development, digital skills, arts & culture, health, sustainability, financial & legal autonomy, communication, and civic engagement.
2) Media & Promotion
- Create content for social media (TikToks, reels, stories, photos, videos);
- Promote activities online and offline;
- Support visual design and communication planning.
3) Logistics
- Organise and manage materials and equipment;
- Help with event setup and venue arrangements;
- Keep storage and inventories in check.
In addition to your main role, you may also:
- Support daily activities at FITT and the Youth House;
- Help prepare local and international events, including Youth Summer Fest;
- Learn Romanian and join additional trainings;
- Give presentations about ESC and volunteering.
What does the project want to achieve?
During your volunteering experience, you will help to:
- Promote volunteering as a tool for personal growth;
- Facilitate inclusive activities for young people aged 14–35;
- Support youth participation in public life;
- Encourage reflection on citizenship, human rights, and community engagement;
- Strengthen employability through practical youth-NGO learning.

Living and practical info
Accommodation: Dorms in the Youth House (shared room with other volunteers);
Food: while meals are not provided, the dorms have access to a shared kitchen;
Financial support: 5 EUR/day for food + 4 EUR/day pocket money;
Local transport: public transport covered in Timișoara;
Arrival: pick-up available during FITT working hours; otherwise easy public transport access / ride sharing services reimbursed.
